An exhibition of inflatable art by Yayoi Kusama – dots, spotty dogs, reflections, mirrors, giant pumpkins, balloons and childlike figures – at the new Aviva Studios / Factory International venue in Manchester.
THE HOPE OF THE POLKA DOTS BURIED IN INFINITY WILL ETERNALLY COVER THE UNIVERSE – the title of the first exhibit – yellow dots on triffid-like tentacles.

The black/pink tentacles were part of the exhibit called A BOUQUET OF LOVE I SAW IN THE UNIVERSE – strange lighting, interconnected tentacles.

YAYOI-CHAN – the little girl – and TOKO-TON – the cartoonish dog. The giant pumpkin is an exhibit called LIFE OF THE PUMPKIN RECITES, ALL ABOUT THE BIGGEST LOVE FOR THE PEOPLE

A giant mirror across the hall added a strange perspective – especially when lying on the “cloud” inflatables – part of the immersive experience. Infinite reflections added to the confusion – the first one was viewed from the outside, the second one from the inside.

Visit if you can – well worth it.
