I Took A Moment (50 for 50 #7)

It has been a hectic couple of weeks, lots going on. I’ve not had a lot of spare time, to think, walk, relax. I’ve definitely not had time to write.

The last week promised to be just as busy, as I was heading to Brighton for a work conference, meeting lots of new people in person after almost two years in my role. It would have been easy to let another week go by in all that busyness.

But one of the reasons for setting myself the 50 for 50 blogging challenge was to remind myself to make the most of every opportunity this year, to take a breath every now and experience small moments of joy.

I wondered the North Laine in Brighton for an hour, captivated by the street art, quirky shop fronts and brightly coloured murals. After 4 hours of travel, it was the perfect escape.

I took a moment.

Running has not been a priority of late, but there was a window after day 1 of the conference. I started off with run/walk – it was very warm – then completed four laps of The Level before walking back to the hotel.

I took a moment.

I woke up early on Wednesday – a long day of conferencing ahead. The sun was shining and the sea was just a 10 minute walk away. I walked down to the beach, via the very quiet Lanes, and saw the sea.

I took a moment.

Conference over, I took a detour on my way home via Richmond, so I could pop in on a parkrun meeting. I got there with an hour to spare. I sat by the river. I watched the world go by. I finished by book. I even spoke to strangers on a train.

I took a moment.

It could have been another week where time just went by in a blur. Where I forgot to notice anything. Where I just got through it.

But it wasn’t.

I took a moment.
