After spending time at the end of 2023 slowing down and looking back, I’m starting 2024 by looking forward.
A new year.
With new goals, new challenges, new adventures, new places.
What will 2024 bring?
Some things are already planned – winter sunshine in Cyprus (leaving tomorrow – hooray), Hamilton in Manchester, a weekend of sport, music and comedy in Wales, gigs in Leicester, Manchester and Liverpool, another work trip to Brighton – I’ve probably already spent more time at the end of 2023 planning ahead than I realised.
And a few things will probably be very similar to 2024 – especially parkrun on Saturday mornings – which is just how 2024 started!

And then there are some things that are giant leaps into the unknown – I’ve just signed up for a new running challenge. One of those “heart in your mouth, can I really do this, what am I thinking” decisions that come into sharp focus the closer they get – and the countdown is on to race day in May. Writing it down makes it true – I’m running from London to Brighton and that’s a really long way. The training plan officially starts next week. I’m looking forward to it – honestly!
But what else does 2024 bring?
That’s all a bit unclear – a bit like the low visibility in the mist in Hanley Park this morning (tenuous link klaxon sounds).

But I’m still looking forward! I’m sure there will be lots of adventures to be had.
