Ten weeks ago, in the sunshine in Cyprus, I started my 20-week training plan for the London to Brighton Ultramarathon at the end of May.
On Sunday, I reached the half-way point of the plan with another run along a coastal path – running back from Mumbles Lighthouse around the bay to Swansea on a sunny Sunday afternoon after a lovely morning of exploration. The first run of the plan took me to Paphos Lighthouse – a nice pattern there.

Over the previous 10 weeks, the miles have been cranking up, although sometimes it felt like I was going round in circles. I’ve been trying out different fuelling options (including ice cream from Joe’s), rediscovered my old running playlists and treated myself to some new trainers. All with the end goal in mind – that 100k goal.
Sometimes it is a hard slog – I don’t think I’ll try and run 18 miles after work on a Thursday again.
But sometimes, the sun comes out, the location is perfect and I run along with a smile on my face.

I’ve made it to half way on the plan – and that’s feels like progress.
And I’ll keep going as best I can.
