After a couple of consecutive weekends away to Liverpool and Swansea, it’s been back to more normal routines for the last couple of weeks. At the moment, that mainly revolves around working, running, eating and sleeping.
At the weekend, I had two early starts to get my training runs done and dusted as soon as possible, in what seemed like almost all the weather – sun, rain, wind and hail just on Saturday. But the runs got done – and it was peak mileage so far in the training plan with 30 miles over the weekend and almost 50 miles in the week.

I was looking forward to a recovery week – reduced mileage, chatty runs and no need for an early alarm.
But that doesn’t seem to have happened – I’ve been waking up before my alarm most days this week. Perhaps, my brain/body is preparing for the clock change this weekend. Or maybe I’m adjusted to earlier starts for running.
But no early starts needed this week.
So what to do with this extra hour of my day?
Stay in bed and stare at the ceiling? Scroll through social media? Start work early? Read a book? Listen to some music? Have a clear out? Do some tidying up? Look at the bottle kilns? Send some emails? Watch the sunrise? Catch up with friends? Sort out some admin? Have an extra cup of coffee? Book a holiday? Make some progress on my blogging challenge?
I’ve probably done some combination of all of those over the last few days.
But I’ve tried to use the time wisely as well.
On Monday, I made a list of some of the “life admin” tasks I’d been putting off for a while. And I’ve been working my way through it. Emails have been sent. Contact details have been updated. Subscriptions have been cancelled. Parcels have been posted.
And I’ve updated and published some missing blog posts from the last few weeks. Only 3 months left to complete my challenge.
- I was Lost in Music (50 for 50 #28) – a musical weekend in Liverpool
- I Ran on the Beach (50 for 50 #29) – a trip to Crosby Beach parkrun
- I Had A Busy Day (50 for 50 #30) – parkrun, anniversary celebrations, rugby and OMD all in one day
- I Brunched (50 for 50 #31) – a lazy Sunday starting with an amazing brunch
- I’m Half Way There (50 for 50 #32) – reflections on the first 10 weeks of my ultramarathon training

Pop over and have a read when you have time. It has been a busy few weeks.
And the last job on the list… sort the tokens for parkrun tomorrow. I’m doing that now.

Ready for another early start tomorrow. Who’s parkrunning?
50 for 50 #33: 50 posts for my 50th birthday to be posted before I’m 51.
