I Went To Space (50 for 50 #38)

Third floor on the Premier Inn. Rain hammering down almost all night. It is going to be a wet Sunday morning in Leicester.

I had thought about another walk around Victoria Park, perhaps heading along Queens Road and down Clarendon Part Road to see the flat where I lived for my final year in Leicester – more reminiscing.

But it was really raining. I definitely didn’t want to get wet.

What to do on a rainy Sunday in Leicester?

In the end, we opted for a short taxi ride to outer space – and a visit to the National Space Centre (along with lots of other people trying to escape the rain).

We travelled across the universe in the planetarium, we climbed up the space tower to see the rockets, we re-lived the space race, watched the moon landings and saw a piece of the moon.

There were interactive exhibits, and a little bit of sci-fi too.

A perfect distraction on a rainy day.

And then it was time to go home – and the trains all ran on time!
