I Had A Nap (50 for 50 #49)

Well, that was a busy few days in Helsinki.

There were plenty of late nights – making the most of the almost-midnight-sun – and a lot of time on our feet (although not quite as much time as needed to get from London to Brighton).

We walked up to the Olympic Park, for fantastic views across Helsinki from the top of the tower (look at that blue sky) and a whistle stop tour of Finland’s sporting history – lots of javelin throwers and long distance runners taking centre stage.

We explored some of Helsinki’s most famous sites – including the Rock Church and the Railway Station – and found a few weird and wonderful sculptures and statues along the way.

Of course, we found time to parkrun – Tokoinranta parkrun was absolutely stunning and we were very pleased to be there on a sunny day. Apparently, it is not as much fun when temperatures go below -18C.

And then there was partying, pool playing, chatting, gallery visiting, hot tubbing, drinking, eating and shopping too.

I was flagging!

So by the time we made it back to the airport and on the plane to come home, I was ready for a nap. I got as comfy as possible when we boarded the plane, and I don’t remember take off at all.

I woke up not long before the announcement to ‘prepare for landing’. And we were almost home.

What a weekend – I definitely needed that nap!
